Alternative Break Program to Memphis, TN

The beaches of Florida aren't for everyone.  Many DePauw students have opted for shovels, sweats, and construction equipment over fall and spring break.

Fall 2011 won't be any different.  The DePauw University Alternative Break program will be headed to Memphis, Tennessee to work with the Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association (MIFA), an organization that helps to sustain the independence of senior, assist families that going through hardships, as well as equip teens for success. The trip will last from October 15th thru the 22nd.

The only thing missing, is you.  We're calling on faculty & staff members at DePauw to volunteer to join motivated and dedicated students on their service-learning journey. If you're interested, please contact Mandy Brookins Blinn or Brenda Reed.  Honestly, who wouldn't want to hang out with great students like these:

Bonners in Peru!

A little bit of everything happens at Civic, Global & Professional Opportunities.  Often times we see the same students over and over again for different things, and sometimes it all comes together as one.

Where else can you find 3 DePauw Bonner Scholars atop a mountain in Peru?  On the Servicio en las Americas summer immersion program, that's where.
Liz Bjordal '13, a participant in 2009 and a student leader in the 2011 Servicio program, poses with participant Sharon Maes '15 and Spanish language instructor Paul Johnson '04 in Peru.  All three current and former students also served as Bonner Scholars.
